There is a difference between acid etched glass and sand-blasted glass. AGC Matelac is acid etched, also refereed to in some countries as stainless because it does not stain as easily as sand-blasted.
AGC Matelac is easier to maintain then sand-blasted, nonetheless the maintenance guidelines must be respected.
Fingerprints and grease or mastic stains can be removed with solvents such as acetone or methyl ethyl ketone as long as these products do not touch the silvered back side of the glass. All products containing hydrofluoric acid, fluorine, chlorine or ammonia derivatives shouldn’t be used since they can damage the decorative coating and/or the surface of the glass.
Etched surfaces should be always be wet cleaned on the entire surface, never performing spot cleaning.
For etched surfaces we reccomend:
Clin by Henkel – window cleaner spray, with alcohol
Vitro by Amstutz Produkte AG
Silicone will irreparably damage the matt surface of the glass. All fitters must be aware of this.
